I did it too, changing my studies I mean, about five years ago, when I realized I didn't like what I was doing. Now I do like what I'm learning, it's how they're teaching it here that I have a bit of a problem with.

Sometimes it helps seeing how things are in another country to really appreciate what you have back home. I'm not a big fan of the German educational system but it's soo much better than the French one.

About hobbies, I agree. I really need something that lets me get away from school and everyone there which is not playing video games all night. But I was moving around a lot during the last two years, never staying in one place (or country) for more than half a year. It's one of the peculiarities of the program I'm studying in. So this makes it difficult to really immerse myself in something or have a garden/band/RPG group with a bunch of friends. :/
